SOUTHERN TAKES ALL TAKES HERITAGE PLACE FUTURITY

June 3, 2007 - Favorite Southern Takes all lived up to expectation in the $649,400 Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park, winning the race drawing away by 1 1/4 lengths.

Ridden by Larry Payne for trainer Eddie Willis and owner James Sills, the Southern Cartel gelding earned his second win in five starts, and his first stakes win. Earlier, he finished fourth in the Remington Park Futurity (G1). His $270,800 winner's paycheck bumped his lifetime earnings to $315,245.

Breaking from the outside, Southern Takes All roared to the lead and cleared the field easily. Zoominatchya, owned by Robert and Cristal Sherrill, finished second, followed by Furrtreeous, Jessthelouisianagirl, Famous Grouse, Ima Stone Candy, Separatist Follies, Coronita Cartel, Movie Mogul and Passion Raging On.

Bred by Bill Price, Southern Takes All is the first stakes winner for sire Southern Cartel. Price also bred Southern Cartel, a stakes-winning stallion that has had one crop to race, including eight winners from 26 starters. He is the first runner for dam Shes Takes all, a mare by This Snow Is Royal that was a finalist in the Grade 1 2003 Ruidoso and West Texas futurities.
