OKLAHOMA CITY, OKโJUNE 1, 2013โRemington Parkโs โMega-Cardโ of racing Saturday night, the richest overall program ever presented in track history, featured a big-money upset in the richest race of the season.
Big Biz Perry broke well from post position number one, then battled to hold off the even-money wagering favorite Hes Relentless to win the Grade 1, $910,260 Heritage Place Futurity.
Owned by Jose Espinosa of Edinburg, Texas, Big Biz Perry is trained by Trey Wood who saddled the winner of the biggest Remington Park race for the second consecutive year. โWe really didnโt know her until she got here,โ Wood noted. โJose sent her to us from Sam Houston and we didnโt have her in Houston. She looked good but didnโt get away in the consolation there (in April). She got away good in the trials here and she got away super-good tonight and thatโs what won the race for her.โ
Ridden by Cipriano Vidana, Big Biz Perry was away at 29-1 odds and paid $60.80 for the win, $14.80 to place and $7.60 to show. Even-money favorite Hes Relentless was coming on strongly but could not reach the winner, settling for second a head behind the victor, paying $4.20 to win and $3.20. Wagon Tales was along for third and paid $3.80 to show.
