OKLAHOMA CITY – December 22, 2016 – The 2017 Remington Park racing year will begin with the American Quarter Horse Season on March 10. The stakes schedule of 40 races is worth more than $5.6 million, led by the Grade 1, $1,000,000 Heritage Place Futurity on June 3.
The Heritage Place Futurity is the richest event on the lucrative final night of the season, Saturday, June 3. A “Mega-Card” of racing consists of eight stakes events worth a total of $2,125,000 which also includes: the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Championship; the Grade 2, $350,000 Heritage Place Derby; the Grade 1, $225,000 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity; the Grade 2, $100,000 Junos Request Stakes; and the Grade 2, $50,000 Remington Park Distance Championship, among others.

The oldest futurity in the sport, the Oklahoma Futurity tops the program on March 25 that includes the Grade 3, $275,000 Oklahoma Derby and the Grade 1, $100,000 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity.

The Grade 1, $100,000 Leo Stakes on April 1, 2017 is the lone remaining Grade 1 event on the schedule for Quarter Horses. Other big-money events for older Quarter Horses include the restricted Grade 1, $100,000 Sooner State Stakes (OK-breds) on May 6, 2017 and the Grade 2, $100,000 Bank of America Oklahoma Championship. Oklahoma-breds will have plenty of stakes opportunities away from the futurity and derby schedule with races worth $61,800. Those events are spread throughout the entire season with Memorial Day Monday, May 29, 2017 featuring a slew of state-bred stakes. The holiday card will feature: the FL Lady Bug Stakes, the Easy Date Stakes, the Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes and the $50,000 Jack Brooks Stakes, all for eligible OK-breds.
