Oklahoma City, Ok – May 30, 2015 – Rpainted Wagon battled throughout the entire 400 yards, eventually fending off an early rival then holding on over a closer, to win the Heritage Place Derby in :19.595 seconds over a fast track.
Owned by Rosa Aguado of Georgetown, Texas, Rpainted Wagon is trained by Steven Salazar and was ridden by Jorge Linares. The 3-year-old gelding wrested the lead away from dueling rival Candy Cartels Cat in the early stages of the race before getting to the finish line in time, a neck ahead of the hard-charging 6-5 betting favorite Politcaly Correct. BP Cartels Policy rallied for third, a half-length behind the winner.
At 8-1 in the wagering Rpainted Wagon paid $19.40 to win, $6.40 to place and $4.20 to show. Politicaly Correct paid $3.60 to place and $2.40 to show. BP Cartels Policy paid $3.40 to show.
Bred in Oklahoma by Bob and Deanna Williams, Rpainted Wagon is by PYC Paint Your Wagon from the Chicks Beduino mare Rlittle Sis. Now a winner of two career races from nine attempts, Rpainted Wagon made $155,362 for the victory. He has total earnings of $182,967.
Rpainted Wagon gave all of his connections their first win in the Heritage Place Derby.
