HOBBS, NM—DECEMBER 1, 2019— All American Futurity (G1) winner Mr Jess Jenkins *(Heritage Place Graduate) got his second consecutive graded win on Sunday when he battled Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) winner Chilitos to a neck win in the $150,000 in Southwest Juvenile Invitational Championship (G2) at Zia Park.
Winless in his first three starts, Mr Jess Jenkins has now strung together three-straight victories that include the Grade 1 All American Futurity and Grade 2 Southwest Juvenile Championship. Ridden by jockey James Flores, the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess completed the 440 yards in :21.388 seconds, equaling a 104 speed index.
Marcos Carrizales conditions the 2-year-old gelding for owner’s Jose Guzman and Rito Sosa. The $70,560 Championship winners’ purse increased Mr Jess Jenkins earnings total to $1,576,180.
V.H. Harmon Jr. and Robert Moudy III bred Mr Jess Jenkins in Oklahoma from the Dashing Cleat mare Fetching Image. The sorrel gelding is a $40,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate.
Chilitos, also a 2-year-old son of Apollitical Jess, settled for his second consecutive runner-up finish in a graded stakes to earn $24,990 for the effort. The sorrel colt finished a close second to Trump My Record in the $904,641 Texas Classic Futurity(G1) in his last start on November 9.
Alvin Francis, Jr. trains the Oklahoma homebred for owners Anna and Omar Paredes. He has compiled a (9) 4-4-0 record this season and banked $421,528. Chilitos is out of the Game Patriot mare Mary Me Anna.
All American Juvenile runner-up Cers Final Try finished 1-¼ lengths off the leaders to earn $14,700 for third. Also a finalist in the Hobbs America Futurity(G2), Cers Final Try races for owner Christina D. Robinson and trainer Tony Sedillo. The One Dashing Eagle gelding was bred in Oklahoma by Charles Robinson, from the Corona Cartel mare Bp Shes All Corona. Cers Final Try has earned $78,929 this season.
Hotstempting, Perrys Secret, Meleros Dash, First Neon Moon, Flying Famous Eagle, Dash For Glitter and Number One Interest completed the official order of finish.
