OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – June 1, 2021 – The $128,000 Heritage Place Juvenile featured a field of eight who attempted to qualify for the Heritage Place Futurity, in trials held May 7 & 8. Rockin Red Rhythm was supplemented to those trials by his connections, who found their return on investment Saturday night at Remington Park once he won the Juvenile by a length.
Owner HV Ranch of Denver, Colo., supplemented Rockin Red Rhythm for $25,000 to the Heritage Place Futurity trials, hoping to reach the lucrative final that was worth $1,314,980. A share of that purse would have made the investment instantly worthwhile. Despite winning his May 8 trial by 1-3/4 lengths, Rockin Red Rhythm was not one of the five fastest qualifiers that night to move on to the final.
However, Rockin Red Rhythm did qualify for the Juvenile and since he had already been paid into the race by virtue of his trial fee, he was entered. The 2-year-old colt was on his game and picked up the biggest check possible by winning the 350-yard race in :17.541 on the fast track. He earned a speed index of 90, and first-place money of $37,209.
The original supplement payment to the Heritage Place Futurity trials was now covered, with surplus.
Trained by Edelmiro Carrizales and ridden by Remington Park’s leading jockey Juan Pulido, Rockin Red Rhythm led from the start to secure his payoff. As the wagering favorite at 6-5 odds, he paid his backers at the windows $4.60 to win, $3.80 to place and $2.80 to show.
BP Ck Eagle (30-1 odds) was second, a half-length better than Olivia De Capo (16-1) in third. The remaining order was Cartel Dragon (4th), Press Is My Hero (5th), Sippin Hayden (6th), Jesst For Speed (*Heritage Place Graduate) (7th) and Reimagine (*Heritage Place Graduate) (8th).
Rockin Red Rhythm is by One Famous Eagle from the Corona Cartel mare Love Samba. He was bred in Texas by Julianna Hawn Holt.
The final racing program of the 2021 American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season at Remington Park takes place on Sunday, May 30. The first race is at 1:30pm-Central.
