OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 15, 2022—It may have been cold outside for Saturday’s closing session of 2022 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale but activity inside continued to be hot throughout the day in Oklahoma City.
The three-day sale this year saw across-the-board increases for Gross, Average and Median.
The Winter Mixed high-seller came in the closing session when Rancho La Cobra paid $290,000 for Hip 701 Spit Curl Diva. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Reliance Ranches LLC consigned the champion daughter of Spit Curl Jess from the Some Dasher mare Some Kinda Diva. Spit Curl Diva is the dam of 13 winners, 8 black type including champion 2-year-old filly Coronas First Diva. She sold with a 2022 embryo to leading sire Favorite Cartel.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Reliance Ranches LLC also consigned Saturday’s second high-seller, Hip 725 Leading Cartel. Aurelio Juarez paid $180,000 the the sale’s overall third high-seller, a stakes winning gelding by Big Daddy Cartel from the Special Leader mare Leading Diva.
Saturday’s third high-seller, Hip 849 Mahomes, was purchased for $100,000 by Jose Meraz. Also a gelding, the 4-year-old stakes-placed son of leading sire Hes Relentless was consigned by Marty Powers, Agent. Out of the Corona Cartel mare Mia Corona, Mahomes was second in the 2021 La Fiesta Derby and has earned $78,655.
Grant Farms LLC was the leading buyer with six purchase totaling $383,000. Jose Meraz paid $293,200 for 14 head and Rancho La Cobra had the one lot for $290,000.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Reliance Ranches LLC was the leading consignor or agent with 46 head grossing $1,793,000 .Marty Powers, Agent sold 41 head for $1,111,900 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent had 39 head gross $1,054,000.
Apollitical Jess was the sale’s leading short-yearling sire (by average with two or more sold) with two head averaging $55,000. Favorite Cartel had two yearlings average $39,000 and Ivory James saw three short-yearlings average $21,000.
Apollitical Jess was also the sale’s leading covering sire (by average with two or more sold) with three in-foal mares averaging $93,333. Apollitical Blood had three in-foal mares average $58,667 and Tres Seis saw three in-foal mares average $54,333.
