Fastest qualifier Tacitandrun (*Heritage Place Graduate) was best late he defeated Stellur by three-quarters in Sunday’s $16,326 Roche Equine Veterinary Services Futurity Sunday afternoon at Jerome. Merrilyn Blue Diamond finished 1½ lengths back in third.
Under jockey Jesus Virgen, the son of multiple stakes sire Tac It Like a Man completed the 350 yards in :17.981 seconds, a 95 speed index with a 5 mph tailwind.
Owned-and-trained by Fredy Olmos, the Oklahoma-bred got his third straight win in four starts and used the $6,530 winner’s purse to boost his career total to more than $8,000. Lake and Ledona Newcomb bred the sorrel gelding from the Tres Seis mare Runaway Seis.
Monty Arrossa trains runner-up Stellur for owner Five Livestock Company LLC. Paul Jones and Vista Equine Colorado, LLC bred the Stel Corona gelding out of Rw Red Wave, by Wave Carver, was bred in Colorado. Ridden by Jesus Canales, he earned $3,265.
Arrossa also trains third-place finisher Merrilyn Blu Diamond, an Idaho homebred for owner 7 B Performance Horses. Ridden by Raymundo Torres, the Sparkys Blue Road filly picked up $1,632 for her effort. She is out of the Merridoc mare Merrilyn.
This Stars The One finished sixth and was moved to seventh and Questionable Answer finished seventh but was moved to eighth for interference.
