OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—SEPTEMBER 22, 2017—Heritage Place Yearling Sale continued to post strong numbers through its second session completed this afternoon (Friday) in Oklahoma City.
“Our average increased today to $17,188 for horses marked sold, that is an increase of 15% over the same day last year,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Friday evening. “The sale continues to show strength as the two-day average of $16,782 is 21% higher than last year.”
Through the first two sessions, the 444 yearlings sold have grossed $7,451,400 compared to 452 last year for $6,264,000. The two-day average hit $16,782 compared to $14,858 at the same time last year. The median is up 14% to $11,000 compared to $9,500 for two sessions in 2016.

“Repurchases have remained low,” Kidney added. “We look forward to a good finish for the third and final session of this year’s Quarter Horse Yearling Sale tomorrow (Saturday).
Three additional yearlings broke the six-figure mark on Friday to bring the sale total to five (see yesterday).
Crown Racing/Jim Spry paid $115,000 for Hip 400, Jon E Cash 123, a son of world champion sire FDD Dynasty from the champion producing Takin On The Cash mare Hot Cash 123. Marty Powers, Agent for Carolyn C. Bay consigned the half-brother to world champion Cold Cash 123.
The preceding Hip (#399), One Famous Icon, brought a final bid of $107,000 from Ricardo Ramirez. Granada Farms, Agent for Johnny Trotter consigned the Mr Jess Perry brother to champion and leading sire One Famous Eagle. One Famous Icon is out of the stakes-placed and multiple stakes producing Chicks Beduino mare One Famous Lady.

Hip 430, Apollitical Crest, was the third high-seller on Friday when he brought a final bid of $105,000 from JGA Racing. Bob Moore Farms, LLC, Agent for West Coast Farms (D. Miller) consigned the Apollitical Jess colt out of G1-placed and multiple stakes producer Cassandra Crest by Holland Ease.
Alejandro Castaneda is the sale’s leading buyer through two sessions with 15 purchases grossing $206,800. Dillon Lane paid $195,000 for two yearlings and Rachuan Suarez MVZ purchased 15 yearlings for $182,800.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent is the leading consignor or agent through two sessions with 31 head grossing $486,000. Marty Powers, Agent has sold 27 head for $432,700 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC have sold eight yearlings for $320,000.
All-time leading sire First Down Dash moved into the leading sale sire of yearlings (by average two or more sold) after two sessions with eight yearlings averaging $44,688. Leading living sire of money earners Corona Cartel has nine yearlings for $44,278 and first-crop sale sire Five Bar Carte had two yearlings average $38,500.
