OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 10, 2014— Apolitical Pac led the five qualifiers from the second night of trials for the $1,020,980 Heritage Place Futurity [G1] at Remington Park on Saturday night. It is the second time this season that she has posted a top qualifying time as she was also the fastest in trials for the Oklahoma Futurity in March.
Owned by Victory Farms of Ada, Okla. and trained by Brian Muse, Apolitical Pac was ridden by Cody Jensen. She handled her 350 yards in the sixth trial of 10 on the evening, crossing the finish in :17.691 seconds over a fast track while defeating rivals by 2-3/4 lengths.
A gray filly by leading first crop sire Apollitical Jess from the First Down Dash mare Kpax, Apolitical Pac was bred in Texas by Bobby Cox. She has won two trials from three career starts, finishing fourth in the Oklahoma Futurity in her other outing. Victory Farms purchased her for $36,000 at the Heritage Place September Sale.
Jockey Cody Smith rode Racy Casanova to the second fastest qualifying time in the first trial. Making his career debut, the Stel Corona 2-year-old completed the 350 yards in :17.778 seconds for owner Movin On and trainer Jason Olmstead. Sunflower Supply Co. bred the gray colt in Missouri from the Mr Eye Opener mare Miss Racy Eyes. She was a $115,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate.
Remington Park Juvenile winner Count de Monet rolled to a daylight win in the third trial for owner Bobby D. Cox, who repurchased the colt for $18,000 at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale. John Buchanan saddled the two-time winner from three starts with Russel Hadley getting the riding call. The Brimmerton colt, out of Royal Dephias Chick by Chicks Bedouin, has earned more than $51,000 this season. Vaughn and Jill Cook bred the brown gelding, which posted the third fastest time of :17.804, in Oklahoma.
Coming off a second place effort in the Oklahoma Futurity [G3] trials on March 8, Jaxtens First Wagon faired better Saturday night under jockey Omar Reyes while posting a 2 ½ length win and the fourth fastest time of :17.880. Tyler Ranch, LLC bred the Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt in California from the First Down Dash mare Tylers First Down. Alfred Gomez trains the 2-year-old for Elite Oilfield Services.
Oklahoma Futurity [G3] winner Paint Me Perry pushed his record to a perfect 3-for-3 in the last trial to get the final qualifying spot on Saturday. Paul Nieto rode the Pyc Paint Your Wagon homebred for J and B Rental to a time of :17.918. Francisco Gonzalez conditions the earner of more than $162,000. The Oklahoma-bred is from the Mr Jess Perry mare Baby Perry.

Jockey G.R. Carter continued his climb to the top of the American Quarter Horse Association record for all-time wins by a jockey. He won twice on Saturday with Tzunami Is Okay (trial 4) and Honeymoon Candy (trial 9). A native of Pawhuska, Okla. and resident of Oklahoma City, Carter now has 3,624 Quarter Horse victories a
nd needs eight more wins to break the mark of 3,631 held by the retired Alvin “Bubba” Brossette.
Sunday afternoon racing on Mothers’ Day will feature AQHA Challenge Stakes events, led by the $121,410 Bank of America Oklahoma Championship [G2]. Also on the program are four trials to determine the field for the $257,050 Heritage Place Derby [G2]. The first race Sunday is a
