OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–JANUARY 18, 2025 – The market for ready-made broodmares, horses of racing age, and short-yearlings demonstrated considerable strength at the just concluded Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, January 16 through 18 in Oklahoma City.
“Day 3 concluded with a $28,460 average on horses sold. The final 3-day sale average is $26,935, an increase of 19% compared to last year, and 83% of the horses offered were sold,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Saturday. “We had a tremendous sale thanks to the buyers, consignors, and all our Heritage Place staff.”

Leading buyer Rancho La Cobra purchased all three of Saturday’s sale toppers, One Sweet Sugar (Hip 740), for $560,000. The restricted grade 1 winning daughter of multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess was consigned by Spring Hill Farms, Agent.
Sold in-training, One Sweet Sugar is out of Sugarshaker B by Heza Fast Dash. The 4-year-old filly won the Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1) and Lassie Futurity(RG2), earning $620,870.
Rancho La Cobra paid $220,000 for Desperate Love (Hip #694) and Tena Rena (Hip #869).
Marty Powers, Agent, consigned Desperate Love, an 11-year-old daughter of Walk Thru Fire. Out of Ruidoso Derby(G1) winner and AQHA Dam of Distinction Remember Me Rose by Corona Cartel, Desperate Love is a half-sister to 11 black type, including champions Cyber Attack.
Solo Select, Agent consigned Tena Rena, a 5-year-old stakes-winning daughter of FDD Dynasty from the Dominyun mare Connstantina, a half-sister to world champion Bodacious Eagle.
Leading buyer Rancho La Cobra purchased seven horses totaling $1,057,000. Rancho El 48 LLC had one purchase for $775,000 and MRB Racing LLC paid $656,500 for 12 head.
Dunn Ranch was the leading consignor and/or agent with 83 for gross receipts equaling $2,819,400. Marty Powers, Agent, sold 29 for $1,477,600, and Solo Select, Agent, had 28 head bring $953,000.
Hes Relentless was the leading short-yearling sale sire (by average, two or more sold), with two yearlings averaging $56,000. Tres Seis had a two-head average of $45,00, and Flying Cowboy 123 had a four-head average of $43,750.
Golden Boi was the leading first sale-crop sire with a three-head average of $39,000.
Flying Cowboy 123 was the sale’s leading covering sire (by average, two or more in-foal mares sold), with an $86,667 average on three mares. Favorite Cartel had an $80,000 average on two mares, and Cyber Monday had a $71,500 average for four mares.
