SHAKOPEE, MN—JULY 10, 2016—Ridden by jockey Chase Clark, Justified (Heritage Place Sale Graduate) rolled to his second derby win of the year when he defeated Okeyfreight and Dianas Tres Seis (Heritage Place Sale Graduate) in the $66,202 Canterbury Park QH Derby at Canterbury Park. –
“When he hears one coming he wants to go even further with it,” Clark, who has been aboard for three of the wins, said.
Owned by Tim Holdaway and David Perry, Justified completed the 400 yards in :19.854 seconds, a 102 speed index into a 14 mph crosswind. Holdway also conditions the son of leading sire Foose. It was the fourth win in six starts the bay colt and the $34,125 winners’ purse boosted his career total to nearly $64,500.
Lucas Racing Inc. and Vaughn Cook bred Justified in Texas from the Special Leader mare Special Wave. He paid $8.40 to win.
Okeyfreight and Dianas Tres Seis were in a dead-heat for the place position, picking up $13,650 each for the effort.
Robert Johnson conditions Okeyfreight for owner/breeder Dean Lemburg. The South Dakota-bred son of second crop sire Freighttrain B is out of Okey Dokey Eyes, by Okey Dokey Dale. David Pinon was aboard.

Ferrari James, Candys Little Wagon, One Ivory Sign and Ivory Charmer completed the field.
