Stallion ESearch – OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 21, 2017—The 2017 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale came to an end Saturday with across-the-board increases for the auction that offered a depth of quality consignments.
”The Winter Sale concluded with more great weather, an increase in the gross, increase in the average sales price and we sold 88% of the horses offered this weekend,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Saturday.
With 915 horses cataloged and 105 withdrawn, Heritage Place reported 711 were sold for $7,355,400, up 4% compared to $7,070,950 on 704 sold in 2016. The 2017 average of $10,345 was up 3% over the $10,044 average last year, while the median increased a healthy 8% from $6,000 to $6,500 in 2017.
”We had a great sale, but we couldn’t do it without great customers so thank you to all consignors and buyers, we look forward to a great year in 2017,” Kidney said.
Steve D. Burns, DVM paid $225,000 for high-seller Eagle On The Fly, by leading sire One Famous Eagle. MCY Racing Farm consigned the stakes winner and Grade 1-placed 4-year-old earner of $229,244. Out of the Strawfly Special mare Lady Heart Of Gold, the 5-year-old mare won the Lubbock Stakes, was second in the Hobbs America Futurity(G2) and third in the Rainbow Futurity(G1). Eagle On The Fly is a sister to stakes winner and Grade 1-placed One Fabulous Eagle ($664,547).
Hip 751 Oak Hill Streak, a multiple stakes winning daughter of leading sire Heza Fast Dash, was the high-seller on Saturday. Butch and Stephanie Webb paid $125,000 for 5-year-old mare out Streakin Amber by Streakin La Jolla. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Vanessa Bartoo was the consignor. She sold in-training.
John Andreini purchased Hip 671 Sheza Shy Shahayla for $100,000 from Bob Moore Farms, LLC, Agent for Atwood Ranches, Inc. The RG1-placed daughter of leading sire First Down Dash is a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Finding Nemo and Far Niente. The 9-year-old mare sold in-foal to leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon for her second foal.
Randy Hill paid $50,000 for the top selling short-yearling on day 1, Hip 282 Coronado Country. The filly is by the first sale crop sire Coronado Cartel out of the multiple stakes producing Country Chicks Man mare First Prize Chic. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent was the consignor.
Steve D. Burns, DVM was the sale’s leading buyer with 2 purchases for $271,000. Butch and Stephanie Webb signed tickets for 3 head totaling $178,000 and Joaquin Ramon Pelaez Cortes purchased 12 head for $116,900.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent was the sale’s leading consignor or agent with 56 head that grossed $899,900. Marty Powers, Agent, had 56 head gross $616,400 and MCY Racing Farm sold 7 head for $297,100.
Leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon led all sale sires (by average with two or more sold) with 3 head averaging $25,667. First crop sale sire Coronado Cartel had 5 short-yearlings average $23,400. Champion sire Tres Seis had 4 head average $21,300.
Pyc Paint Your Wagon also led the covering sires (by average with two or more sold) with 5 in-foal mares who averaged $48,800. Leading sire One Famous Eagle had 2 in-foal mares average $35,000 and Dominyun had 2 in-foal mares average $20,000.
