OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—NOVEMBER 3, 2017—Jet Black Patriot, a leading Louisiana-based sire, sold for $725,000 today, the opening day of the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City.
The “second session” was analyzed removing the high seller for comparison to last year and it showed a healthy increase to $14,770 average on horses sold, that is up 16% compared to last year.
The opening “yearling session” average on horses sold today was basically even with last year averaging $12,290 and 93% of the horses sold in that session.
Combined session numbers from the opening day saw 232 head gross $3,164,400 for a $13,640 average and $7,000 median. After all Friday sessions the sale marked sold 90% of the horses offered.
Consigned by Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Homeland Security Investigations, Jet Black Patriot has sired nearly $10 million in progeny earnings. Copper Springs Ranch of Bozeman, Montana signed the ticket for the RG1 winning son of Game Patriot. Following the sale they announced the 11-year-old stallion will continue to stand at Robicheaux Ranch near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana (see related story).

Sue Arden and Floyd Family Trust paid $70,000 for the high-selling yearling, Hip 17 Torts Cartel by Corona Cartel from the Mr Jess Perry mare Queen Of Torts. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Terry Stennett consigned half-brother to Texas Classic Futurity(G1) winner Torts On Fire and stakes winner First Down King.
Hip 247 Better Be Diamonds, a daughter of Corona Cartel, was the high-selling broodmare on day 1 for $55,000. Consigned by Bob Moore Farms, LLC, Agent for John Wells, Robicheaux Ranch purchased the half-sister to AQHA Racing champion Mongoose Jet Eye.
Copper Spring Ranch was the leading buyer with the one purchase for $725,000. Darling Farms bought three head for $81,000 and Joaquin Ramon Pelaez Cortes paid $70,500 for four head.
Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Homeland Security Investigations was the leading consignor or agent on day one with Jet Black Patriot for $725,000. Abigail Kawananakoa sold 12 head for $231,500 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Terry Stennett had seven head bring $229,000.
Corona Cartel was the leading sale sire of yearlings (by average with two or more sold) on day one with six head averaging $40,833. FDD Dynasty had seven for $22,143 and Pyc Paint Your Wagon had six yearling average $21,750.
FDD Dynasty led coverings sires (by average with two or more sold) on day one with two in-foal mare averaging $30,750. Hes Relentless had four in-foal mares average $17,000 and first sale-crop sire One Fabulous Eagle saw eight in-foal mares average $5,988.
