OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—OCTOBER 31, 2020—After early season disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the US Quarter Horse sales market ended on a solid note with the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale concluding today (Oct. 31) with figures at or above last year’s sale.
“It was a solid finish to the 2020 Fall Mixed Sale with a 10% increase in the average sales price of all horses sold,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Saturday evening.
From 545 head offered, Heritage Place reported 474 head sold for $5,123,300 gross, up 8% over last year’s sale. The sale average was $10,809.
“Heritage Place certainly appreciates everyone’s business and we look forward to selling a great group of horses in January 2021,” Kidney says. “The consignment deadline has been extended (without penalty) for the Winter Mixed Sale to next Friday, November 6th.”
Initial payments for the 2021 Heritage Place Futurity and Derby begin on November 15th, buyers are remined those races are open you do not have to purchase the horse from Heritage Place to nominate.
“Thanks again for your continued business and allowing Heritage Place to remain the place “Where Champions are Sold,” Kidney concluded.
Castulo De Jesus Lopez purchased the two-day sale’s overall high-seller, Hip 620 Polar Xpress, a stakes winning daughter of leading sire Freighttrain B for $94,000 in Saturday’s closing session. Jason Olmstead consigned the 5-year-old mare out of Zoomshakalaka by Azoom. She is a half-sister to two blacktype and the immediate family includes multiple graded winners Eysa Jess Jumpn, Eyesa Jumpn and stakes winner and multiple stakes producer Jump Jive An Wail.
Day two’s second high-seller came when H & E Ranch Inc. paid $77,000 for Hip 501, Jess Wagon P, a stakes winning daughter of leading broodmare sire Mr Jess Perry from the Grade 3 winning Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Ride My Wagon. Charette-Hill Racing, Inc. was the consignor.
Joaquin Ramon Pelaez Cortes paid $50,000 for Saturday’s third high-seller, Hip 423 Executive Temptation, a 2-year-old daughter of Tempting Dash from the Executive Menace mare Executive Looks. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent consigned the half-sister to AQHA Racing champion KVN Corona.
Alejandro Castaneda was the sale leading buyer with 23 purchases for $178,700 gross. Family Racing LLC paid $159,000 for 10 head and Cuadrael Mashta had 11purchases totaling $141,900.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent was the leading consignors and agent for the sale by gross receipts with 25 head grossing $381,700. Bobby D. Cox sold 11 head for $224,500 and Marty Powers Agent had 21 head gross $209,500.
Apollitical Jess was the leading sire of yearlings (by average with two or more sold) with three head averaging $40,333. Corona Cartel had three for $38,167 and leading second-crop sire Kiss My Hocks sold two for a $35,000 average.
Tempting Dash was the leading covering sire (by average with two or more sold) with two in-foal mares averaging $19,000. FDD Dynasty had two in-foal mares for $16,800 average and Freighttrain B sold four in-foal mares for a $15,000 average.
