OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–JANUARY 17, 2025–The hammer dropped at $300,000 for Dunn Ranch, Agent consigned two-time graded stakes winner Joose Boxx (Hip #510), during the second session of the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City today, January 17. The gray gelding was Friday’s sale topper.
The 3-year-old son of leading sire Kiss My Hocks, bred in Texas by Gerry Lynn Sigman and Diane Tatum, was purchased by Carlos Gonzalez. Out of the Big Daddy Cartel mare CD Daddys Home, Joose Boxx won six of nine starts at 2, 2004 and earned $623,927. He won the Oklahoma Futurity(G2) and TQHA Sale Futurity(RG1) and was second in the Dash For Cash Futurity(G2).
“Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale 2025, Day 2 concluded with an average price of $24,860 for horses sold, and 84% of the horses offered were sold,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said. “Day 2 was very much on pace with the same day last year.”
Day 2 produced solid trade, with short yearlings, well-bred broodmares, and horses of racing age in demand.
“The crowd has remained strong and the demand for racing American Quarter Horses and breeding stock remained high,” Kidney concludes. “We look forward to seeing everyone in Oklahoma City for the final session of the Winter Mixed Sale and wish everyone success with their purchases.”
David Campos paid $150,000 for the co-second high-seller Jess A Looking (Hip #614). Burns Ranch Agent consigned the unraced 2-year-old son of leading Apollitical Jess from the Grade 2-placed Walk Thru Fire mare Look At Her. This is the family of world champion He Looks Hot.
Dunn Ranch, Agent for Raymond Merrill, cosigned Friday’s co-second high-seller Aj Lady Tres (Hip #450). Chris and Melody Lykins purchased the 4-year-old daughter of Apollitical Jess in race training. Out of the stakes-winning Tres Seis mare Senorita Tres, Aj Lady Tres is a sister to Oklahoma Derby winner Politically Correct.
Rancho El 48 LLC is the leading buyer through two sessions with Thursday’s sale-topper, Miss Hi Tide for $775,000. MRB Racing LLC has eight purchases for $414,500, and Chris and Melody Lykins purchased three head for $390,000.
Dunn Ranch, Agent, was the leading consignor or agent through two sessions, with 53 head sold for gross receipts of $1,939,200. Marty Powers, Agent, sold 20 heads for $989,400, and Ranch El Cabresto, Inc., sold 12 for $521,500.
Tres Seis is the leading “short yearling” sale sire through two days (by average, two or more sold) with two head averaging $45,000. Flying Cowboy 123 has sold three for a $41,333 average and first-crop sale sire Golden Boi had three short yearlings average $39,000.
Flying Cowboy 123 is the leading covering sire through two sessions (by average, two or more sold) with two in-foal mares for a $105,000 average. FDD Dynasty has two in-foal mares with an average of $49,000, and Hes Relentless averaged $39,750 for two in-foal mares.
