OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–SEPTEMBER 23, 2023–The final session of the September Yearling Sale at Heritage Place concluded today (Sept. 23) with four yearlings bringing $300,000 or more, bookending another record breaking event.
“The 2023 Quarter Horse Yearling Sale closed with a record average sale price of $40,640, up 5% from 2022, 88% of the horses offered were sold,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Saturday evening.
Over the three-day sale 53 yearlings broke six-figures, 16 broke the $200,000 mark, 10 $300,000 and the high-seller commanded $450,00.
“Our team would like to thank all the buyers and consignors for their business and wish everyone much success at the race track. The Fall Mixed Sale will be November 2-4 and there will be 220+ yearlings offered on the first day.“
Saturday’s sale-topper, Hip 689 B Flyin, a daughter of leading first-crop sire Flying Cowboy123, was purchased for $360,000 by Whitmire Ranch. 13 Racing, Agent for Homer A. Hill Estate consigned half-sister to Junos Request Stakes (G1) winner Jess B Glory. B Flyin is out of the stakes winning Valiant Hero mare Glory Rider.
South Fork Equine, LLC, Agent for LS Racing, Inc. sold Saturday’s second high-seller, Hip 808 Chickn Hock, a son of leading sire Kiss My Hocks for $350,000 Renee Wilson purchased the yearling out of champion Pj Chick In Black by Desirio. Chickn Hock, is a half-brother to four black type including Sooner State Stakes(G1) winner Hes Limitless.
Leon Harrell, Allen Isabell and Lance Bland signed a $310,000 ticket for Hip 644 Crossroadz, a son of leading sire Favorite Cartel. Bobby D. Cox consigned the bay colt out of the stakes-placed Freighttrain B mare Apollitical Expression.
Marty Powers, Agent for Flag Ranch, LLC consigned Saturday’s fourth high-seller Hip 720 Onecorona Twocorona. Juan Leano paid $300,000 for the Corona Cartel colt from the stakes-placed and stakes producing One Famous Eagle mare Lady Eagle 123. This is the family of world champion Cold Cash 123 and two-time champion Flying Cowboy 123.
Rachuan Suarez MVZ was the sale’s leading buyer with 19 purchases totaling $692,000. Reliance Ranches, LLC paid $688,500 for seven yearling sand Paragon Farms, LLC purchased four head for $593,000.
Bobby D. Cox was the sale’s leading consignor and/or agent with 31 head bringing gross receipts of $3,134,000. Marty Powers, Agent for Flag Ranch, LLC had 13 head sale for $1,314,000, Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent sold 30 head for $1,100,000 and Rancho El Cabresto, Inc. had 14 yearlings bring $1,096,000.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC also sold 21 head for $952,000.
Apollitical Jess was leading sale sire (by average, two or more sold) with 27 head averaging $120,815. Favorite Cartel sold 41 yearlings for a $90,220 after and Flying Cowboy 123 had 39 head average $85,821.
