OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–SEPTEMBER 22, 2023–Triple Five purchased a Flying Cowboy 123 colt for $450,000 to lead the second session of the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale on the next-to-the last day of the auction. Through two-days the sale is showing increases over last year’s numbers.
“The market remains strong through Day 2 of the yearling sale,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Friday evening. Average price on horses sold today was $45,361 up 5% over the second day from last year.
We had a very impressive set of horses today and certainly look forward to the final session tomorrow,” he added.
The top-seller through two days, Hip 545 Fast Flyer 123, was consigned by Jordan Wiggins, Agent for Sam W. Green. He is the first foal out of Heritage Place Futurity (G1) winner Uptowne Babe by Mr Jess Perry. The second dam is stakes winner Ms Southern Dynasty (FDD Dynasty) who is also the dam of Ruidoso Futurity (G1) winner Uptown Dynasty.
A colt and a filly tied for the second high-seller spot on Friday with a final bid of $370,000 for Hip 425 Times Awasten and Hip 358 Charlenas Cowgirl.
Barror Racing, Empire Racing, Tungsten Racing and Pavon Racing teamed to purchase Times Awasten from the consignment of South Fork Equine, LLC, Agent for LS Racing, Inc. The son of leading sire Favorite Cartel is the first foal from All American Futurity (G1) finalist Flashing My Pjs, by First Moonflash. The second dam is champion mare and Grade 1 producer Pj Chick In Black by Desirio.
AQHA Racing champion owner/breeder Bobby D. Cox purchased Charlenas Cowgirl, a daughter of leading first-crop sire Flying Cowboy 123, from the Marty Powers, Agent for Tom and Kathleen McNally consignment. From the Take Off Jess mare Jess Charlena, Charlenas Cowgirl is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Jess My Hocks and Grade 2 winner Charlies Fury.
Reliance Ranches, LLC is the leading buyer through two sessions with seven yearlings for $688,500. Triple Five has two purchases totaling $552,000, Valeriano Racing Stables LLC paid $550,000 for two yearlings and Francisco J. Robles had four yearlings total $528,000.
Bobby D. Cox is the leading consignors and/or agents through two sessions with 23 head for gross receipts of $2,207,000. Rancho El Cabresto, Inc. sold 11 head for $907,000 and Marty Powers, Agent for Flag Ranch, LLC had nine yearlings bring $864,000.
Lazy E Ranch, Agent sold 20 yearlings for $774,000 and as Agent for specific consignors they also represented the fifth spot at 14 head for $641,000 and sixth spot of 16 head for $485,500.
Apollitical Jess is the leading yearling sire (by average, two or more sold) through two sessions with 21 head averaging $108,810. Flying Cowboy 123 has 24 head for a $95,167 average and Favorite Cartel sold 30 for a $85,200 average.
