Heritage Place Graduate Mister Mucho Gusto Posts Top Mark In Four Corners Futurity Trials

FARMINGTON, NM—MAY 19, 2019 — Grade 2 West Texas Futurity finalist Mister Mucho Gusto (* Heritage Place Graduate) raced to his second career win on Sunday while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Four Corners Futurity at SunRay Park.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to SunRay Park on Sunday, June 2 to vie for the winner’s share of a $40,000-added purse going 350 yards.
Under jockey Esgar Ramirez, Mister Mucho Gusto handily defeated Sammy Baugh by half-a-length while completing the 350 yards in :17.816 seconds to record the top qualifying time.
Conditioned by trainer Jose Muela, the Freighttrain B gelding entered the trials off a trouble seventh-place effort in the $323,571 West Texas Futurity(G2) May 5 at Sunland Park. With two wins in three starts this season Mister Mucho Gusto has banked $18,047 this season.
Diamond Racing Stables and U S Alliance Logistic purchased the brown gelding at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City last September for $13,500. AQHA Champion breeder Bobby D. Cox bred Mister Mucho Gusto from the stakes-producing Azoom mare Zumbaya, a sister to Rainbow Futurity(G1) Zoomin With Ease. Ruidoso Futurity(G1) winner All About Ease, by First Down Dash, is the second dam.
Making his career debut, runner-up Sammy Baugh held on to the second fastest clocking of :17.882 seconds. Robert Sanderson trains the California-bred son of multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess for owner F C Racing Stables LLC. Martin Felix had the riding call aboard the Steve D Burns DVM-bred out of Firebaugh Filly by Buzz Word.
Apollos Big Daddy rolled to his second win in as many starts in the last of three trials to get the third fastest time of :17.961 second. Leading trainer Wesley Giles saddled the Michigan-bred Big Daddy Cartel colt to a three-quarter length win over Woodbeacartel, for owner Leopaldo Canizales.
MJ Farms bred the two-time winner of $15,000 from the Apollo (TB) mare Gch Chulita.
