OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 11, 2013—Rocket And Roll, a half-brother to world Champion Apollitical Jess, and First Tempting Dash, a full-brother to champion Tempting Dash, each brought $97,000 Saturday during a special sale conducted Saturday by Heritage Place Sale Company in Oklahoma City.
VSE on behalf of the Department of Treasury cosigned four two-year-olds who were sold as yearlings during Labor Day weekend of 2012 in the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale and later seized.
“We had a good crowd on hand for the open house and we would like to thank everyone for coming out,” Heritage Place General Manger Spence Kidney said Saturday afternoon. “The sale was a success,” he added.
The two-year-olds sold on Saturday brought a combined total to $329,000 for an $82,250 average.
Valeriano Racing Stables LLC of Odessa, Texas purchased Hip 1, Rocket An Roll for $97,000. The colt by leading sire Corona Cartel is out of three-time champion and former Broodmare of the Year Apollitical Time, by Apollo. Apollitical Time won 14 races and earned $903,242. She is the dam of two winners including the aforementioned world Champion Apollitical Jess ($1,399,831). The second dam, a G3 placed daughter of leading sire First Down Dash is a multiple stakes producer and the granddam of G2 winner Sizzlin Cartel($233,446, to 3, 2013), stakes winner and track record setter Political Option ($211,880 to 4, 2013) and All American Juvenile Winner Louisiana Blue Dream ($102,332), etc.
Rocket An Roll was the sixth high-selling yearling last September in Ruidoso bringing $340,000.
First Tempting Dash, who sold as Hip 4, brought a final bid of $97,000 from Javier Villarreal of Laredo, Texas. Also out of a former Broodmare of the Year, the son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash is a full sibling to Champion 2-Year-Old colt Tempting Dash, multiple Grade 1 winner A Tempting Dash ($541,959) and Grade 2 finalist Natalie Dash ($52,681). This is the family of leading sire Leaving Memories and Blushing Bug.
First Tempting Dash sold for $150,000 at the Ruidoso Select Sale in September.
Doug Traylor and Greg Garcia, of Katy, Texas, purchased Hip 3, Majestic Cartel for $70,000. Also a son of leading sire Corona Cartel, the two-year-old is out of Grade 1 Vessels Maturity winner Five Bar Molly ($197,109), by Dash Ta Fame. She is the dam of 6 ROM including RG2 winner Fly Bar Special ($110,197) and G1 placed 2012 3-year-old Freedom Choice ($281,423), as well as Mollys Cartel ($150,163), a multiple G1 finalist and full sister to Majestic Cartel.
Majestic Cartel was a $180,000 Ruidoso Summer Sale yearling in 2012.
Blazin N Dashin, purchased for $65,000 by Mark Allen’s Double Eagle Ranch of Roswell, New Mexico, is by all-time leading sire First Down Dash. He is from the first crop of foals out of RG1 winner Blazin N Shakin ($635,335), a 10 time winning daughter of Chicks A Blazin. This is the family of Reckless Dash ($315,229), Hearts Runaway ($265,118), etc.
Blazin N Dashin brought a closing bid of $170,000 in Ruidoso last September.
