OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–JANUARY 16, 2025 – Multiple graded stakes winner Miss Hi Tide (Hip #187) brought $775,000 to top session one of the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale today.
Miss Hi Tide was offered by Marty Powers Agent and sold to Rancho El 48 LLC. The daughter of multiple stakes sire Woodbridge is a two-time restricted stakes winner and was runner-up in the Grade 1 All American Oaks last summer. Out of Ocean Runaway mare Ms Riptide, she has earned $641,384.
The 4-year-old filly, sold in training, was just a sampling of a remarkable opening day for the 47th annual Winter Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City.
“The Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale 2025 kicked off with a very strong market on Day 1,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said. “The weather was amazing and most likely one of the largest first-day crowds we have had in several years. Day 1’s average was $27,869, up nearly 47% from the same day last year, and 85% of the horses offered were sold.”
The $27,869 average was up 46% compared at $19,129 on 207 horses sold on the same day in 2024.

Slash Z Quarter Horses, LLC paid $240,000 for the day’s second high-seller, Wild Train Fortune (Hip #317), a stakes-winning daughter of world champion sire Freighttrain B. Roger Daly, Agent, consigned the 5-year-old mare out of Cartels Fortune by Carters Cartel. She sold in training.
Tabasco Racing LLC purchased the third high-seller, 5-year-old horse Tyger King (Hip #22), for $150,000. Lazy E Ranch LLC, Agent for Reliance Ranches LLC, consigned the multiple stakes finalist by leading sire Apollitical Jess from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Cruzin The Wagon.
Rancho El 48 LLC was the day 1 leading buyer, purchasing the one for $775,000. Santos Montemayor paid $256,000 for four head, while Chris and Meldoy Lykins purchased two for $240,000, and Slash Z Quarter Horses LLC had the one for $240,000.
Marty Powers, Agent was the leading consignor and/or agent with 11 heads grossing $882,200. Dunn Ranch, Agent sold 25 head for $640,000 and Solo Select, Agent had eight horses bring $276,000.
FDD Dynasty was the leading “short yearling” sire (by average, two or more sold) with two head averaging $27,500. First-time sale sire In Hott Pursuit had two short yearlings average of $9,500.
Flying Cowboy 123 was the leading covering sire (by average, two or more sold) with two in-foal mares averaging $105,000. Dulce Sin Tacha had four in-foal mares, average of $27,250, and first-time sale sire Cyber Attack sold two in-foal mares for a $21,500 average.

The second session will begin on Friday, January 17, at 10:00 a.m. (CST) with breedings to Tres Seis, Jess Good Candy, Hes Relentless, Flying Cowboy 123, and Uncle D, again benefiting the Sam Thompson Foundation. These will be followed by Hips 338 through 675.
OQHRA will hold its annual reception in the restaurant and club immediately following Friday’s sale. Way Out West Band will provide live entertainment. The reception, open to the public, is sponsored by the OKC Convention & Visitors Bureau, Heritage Place, and OQHRA.
The final session, featuring Hips 676 through 1014, will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Breedings to Politiko and San Lencho, benefitting The Madeline Schaar Veterinary Memorial Scholarship, will be offered before the sale starts.
