OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—NOVEMBER 4, 2016—Heritage Place kicked off their 39th annual Fall Mixed Sale on Friday with a 26% increase in the opening Quarter Horse session for yearlings. The sale saw 88% of the yearling cataloged marked as sold.
The mixed session, excluding the historical Vessels Stallion Farm Dispersal last year, was down 13% with 89% of horses cataloged marked as sold. Through two sessions 220 head sold for $2,023,600, an average of $9,198 and median of $5,500.
“I think we had a great sale today and look forward to another good catalog tomorrow,” Spence Kidney, Heritage Place General Manager said Friday evening.
Two-time AQHA Racing Champion Feature Mr Bojangles topped the opening day at $48,000. Jumonville Farms purchased the son of leading sire Feature Mr Jess. Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent was the consignor.
Johnny Cromwell paid $45,000 for the high-selling yearling, One Tempting Eagle, a son of leading sire One Famous Eagle from the Chicks Beduino mare A Tempting Chick.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent consigned the third high-seller, On The Lookout, a Valiant Hero colt out of Cat Five Storm, by Panther Mountain. Atwood Ranches, LLC. Was the buyer.
Tom Scheckel was the leading buyer on day-1 with four head grossing $106,000. Atawood Ranches bought three horses for $95,000 and JK Running Horses, LLC paid $90,000 for three head.
Marty Powers, Agent was the opening day leading consignor or agent with 19 head grossing $345,900. Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent sold 22 head for $261,200 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC Agent for Valeriano Racing Stables sold nine horses for $111,700.
Leading sire One Famous Eagle led yearling sale sires in the opening session, by average with two or more sold, with two had for $37,500. All-time leading sire First Down Dash had two yearlings average $31,500 and leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon had four for $28,250. First Prize Doc was the leading “first sale crop” sire , by average with two or more sold, with two for a $5,100 average.
Champion sire Tempting Dash lead the opening day covering sires, by average with two or more sold, with two mares covered for $18,750. Teller Cartel had in-foal mares for $14,000 average and Capo de Capi had two mares covered for $5,100.
