OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 20, 2017—With another near record crowd in attendance today (Friday), the 2017 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale enjoyed a 10% increase in average compared to the same day last year.
”Our average was up 10% over the same day last year and the overall average is up 4% through two-days,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said following Friday’s session. ”We are looking forward to another great day tomorrow.”
Through four sessions (two days) 459 head of the 590 offered were marked sold for a $4,738,800 gross. Last year, through two days, 480 horses sold for $4,805,753. The 2017 two-day average is $10,324 compared to $10,012 last year. The median is a healthy $7,000 up 14% from $6,100 after two days in 2016.
Mary Thompson paid $59,000 for the high-seller in session 4, Hip 545 One Sweet Cartel, a Favorite Cartel winning half-sister to world champion and second crop sire One Dashing Eagle and grade 1 winner and multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess. Robicheaux Ranch, Inc. consigned the 4-year-old filly who sold in-training.
Robicheaux Ranch, Inc. also consigned the high-selling short yearling on Friday, Hip 424 Hot Lil Leesa. Randy Young and Dennis Jensen paid $47,000 for the daughter of leading sire Walk Thru Fire out of the multiple G3-placed Leesas Gone Wild. Hot Lil Leesa is the first foal for the Corona Cartel mare who was second in the Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge(G3) and third in the AQHA Juvenile Challenge(G3). – See more at:
A correction from Thursday’s article on the sale’s opening session, we incorrectly reported the sale price for the high-seller Eyesa Good One. H & E Ranch Inc. paid $54,000 for Hip 243, a stakes-placed G1 finalist by leading sire First Down Dash from the Grade 2 winner Eyesa Jumpn, by Eyesa Special. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent was the consignor.
Through the first two days, Josefa is the leading buyer with six purchases for $115,000. Javier Ruiz has three purchases for $73,700 and Bob Burt paid $72,000 for two head.
Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent is the sale’s leading consignor through two days with 35 head grossing $582,500. Marty Powers, Agent has sold 43 head for $473,900 and Robicheaux Ranch, Inc. has nine head for $160,200.
Leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon is the leading sale sire through two-days (by average with two or more sold) with two head for $30,000. Champion and champion sire Tres Seis had three head average $25,833.
Coronado Cartel is the first crop sale sire leader through two days with three short-yearlings averaging $23,333. Multiple stakes winner Dash Master Jess had two head average $18,000 and Kool Wagon had five for $8,120.
World champion sire FDD Dynasty is the leading covering sire (by average with two more sold) with two in-foal mares averaging $27,500. Apollitical Jess had two mares for $24,500 and Favorite Cartel had three in-foal mares average $22,333.
