OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—NOVEMBER 4, 2017—The 2017 edition of the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale held November 3-4 in Oklahoma City, saw increases in gross average and median prices compared to last year’s sale.
Overall, the two-day sale had 475 head sell for gross receipts of $5,303,850, an increase of 19% from last year’s total of $3,946,250 on 437 horses sold. The average was $11,166 and the median was $6,500, up from last year’s average of $9,030 and median of $5,500. The RNA rate was 9% on horses offered for the two days. Even after taking out the $725,000 sale-topper, the sale enjoyed a 7% increase compared to 2016.
“We wish everyone luck with their purchases and want to say thanks to the consignors for a great set of horses offered for sale,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said following the final session today (Saturday). “I would also extend an invitation to consign horses now for the Winter Mixed Sale, the initial deadline is November 7th so there is still time to consign,” he added.
Jet Black Patriot, a leading Louisiana-based sire, selling for $725,000 on Friday, was the sale-topper at the 2017 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale.
Consigned by Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Homeland Security Investigations, Jet Black Patriot has sired nearly $10 million in progeny earnings. Copper Springs Ranch of Bozeman, Montana signed the ticket for the RG1 winning son of Game Patriot.
Following the sale Friday, they announced the 11-year-old stallion will continue to stand at Robicheaux Ranch near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana (see related story).
Saturday’s sell-topper was the 2017 #3 Leading First-Crop Sire of Money Earners, Hip 353 Krash Cartel. J. Abelardo Gallegos paid $100,000 for the 7-year-old son of Corona Cartel from the Strawfly Special mare Race Valentine. Chris Benedict, Agent for Aecom/URS Federal Services, Inc. was the consignor.
Stallions were the hot-ticket at this year’s sale taking the top three spots. Hip 401 Mighty Corona, also a stakes siring son of Mighty Corona, sold to Pleasant Valley Ranch / Etniel M. Sanabria for $70,000. Chris Benedict, Agent for John Dee Spicer, Trustee For Jim & Marilyn Helzer was the consignor.
Hip 439 Kitty Kiernan, a 3-year-old stakes-placed daughter of leading sire FDD Dynasty, was the high-selling mare for $68,000. Rachuan Suarez MVZ purchased the sister to Grade 1 winner Nellie Delaney from Bob Moore Farms, Agent.
Sue Arden and Floyd Family Trust paid $70,000 for the high-selling yearling, Hip 17 Torts Cartel by Corona Cartel from the Mr Jess Perry mare Queen Of Torts. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Terry Stennett consigned half-brother to Texas Classic Futurity(G1) winner Torts On Fire and stakes winner First Down King.
Copper Spring Ranch was the sale’s leading buyer with the one purchase for $725,000. Rachuan Suarez MVZ had eight head for $153,200 and J. Albelardo Gallegos had one for $100,000.
Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent for Homeland Security Investigations was the leading consignor or agent with Jet Black Patriot for $725,000. Abigail Kawananoka sold 15 head for $295,000 and Marty Powers, Agent had 27 head gross $265,500.
Corona Cartel was the leading sale sire of yearlings (by average with two or more sold) on day one with six head averaging $40,833. FDD Dynasty had seven for $22,143 and Pyc Paint Your Wagon had six yearling average $21,750.
FDD Dynasty was the leading sale covering sire (by average with two or more sold) with two in-foal mare averaging $30,750. Jesse James Jr had two for $26,000 and first sale-crop sire Jess Good Candy have three in-foal mares average $18,667.
