OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—NOVEMBER 2, 2018—The Heritage Place Fall Mixed breeding stock sale got off on the right foot Friday, with a world record price paid for a Quarter Horse stallion at auction and numbers that exceeded the expectations of buyers, sellers and sales company officials.

A world-record price of $2.1-million, for a Quarter Horse stallion at auction, was paid by Bobby D. Cox for the 2016 AQHA Racing Champion Aged Stallion Moonin The Eagle, a multiple Grade 1 winner of $548,985. Chris Benedict, Agent for AECOM/URS Federal Services consigned the 6-year-old son of leading sire One Famous Eagle.
“Obviously everyone is very excited about the record high-seller today,” Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Friday
“All things considered the 2018 sale is very steady as compared to last year’s sale. If you remove the high-seller today and the high seller on day 1 last year (Jet Black Patriot for $725,000) from the equation we are basically even with last year and 90% of the horses offered were sold today. The yearling session average was down 6% compared to that session last year but all-in-all we had a great sale today,” he added.
It was big day for champion stallions, with AQHA Racing World Champion Wave Carver bringing the second-highest final bid of $200,000 from SE Racing Stables, Inc. Royal Vista Ranches, LLC, Agent for Wave Carver Syndicate consigned the 15-year-old son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash.
Valeriano Racing Stables LLC paid $160,000 for the high-selling yearling, Hock On The Move, a colt by first-crop sale sire Kiss My Hocks from the Royal Shake Em mare Gonna Move You. Roger Daly, Agent for Debbie Strebig consigned the half-brother to 2018 Ruidoso Derby(G1) winner Jess Move You.
Dashing Executive, a 4-year-old daughter of First Down Dash, was the high-selling filly for $90,000. Haras Portofino purchased the half-sister to AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Colt KVN Corona from Mark Hanson.
Obviously the four leading buyers on the opening day were those mentioned above with one purchase each.
